South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
You sure it was twice as much? IIRC duties are updated end of Feb each, but they change in pretty small increments
Yes, you're working it out wrong.I recall as-if it was yesterday. I even told the agent i will pay the R1 in cash. So my point that I try to make, look at brackets if you gonna spend a-lot. And yes, a transfer table exists in smaller chunks/brackets.
So is it still impossible to offer less and save more?
That is a pretty huge change yes. Fortunately the normal annual changes are far less drastic.View attachment 945532
We signed in Jan 2006.
R1.25m = R107k in duty
After the change end feb: R45000

Excuse me. On this forum we use the word MASSIVE.Incorrect. Marginal rates don't work that way. Using the 2016/2017 tables:
That is a mammoth 8c saving.
- At R1 800 000 you would have paid R49 000.
- At R1 799 999 you would have paid R48 999.92
My sincere apologies.Excuse me. On this forum we use the word MASSIVE.
No, you didn't.My point, I saved thousands in transfer duty just by looking at the brackets.
You can't save thousands by changing the price by R5.My point, I saved thousands in transfer duty just by looking at the brackets.

Please post your full calculations if you believe you can.
LOLLol
Go online, any calculator. Example
Purchase price : 1250 000 (transfer duty = R7500)
Change that to R1149 999 (then its R3500)
This is just an example, R1 ..... R4000 saving
Thats with the newest tax table
LOL
1 250 000 - 1 149 999 = R100 001
Sometimes it is best to simply admit an errorLol!
Finger fault. Go play with the calculators. I know its a huge saver!
