Anyone tried Microsoft Office for the iPad yet? I'm busy downloading and installing it now. According to the release info, you have to have an Office 365 subscription to edit documents. Viewing is free.

Thanks. I didn't see that thread.

The interface for Word looks almost the same as One Note. Nothing new there. In app purchase for the Office 365 subscription is $99. For now, I'll stick to iWork for iPad. It cost me $30 without having to subcribe annually with free upgrades. It's also free on new iDevices. Seems like a better deal to me.

Yes it would be a better deal if you don't use Office on you PC. Just bear in mind that the Office 365 subscription is for up to 5 devices (PC, Mac, android device and Apple devices all included), so in that case, it may be good for some (if not many) people

iWork is pretty cheap. And also a one time fee.

Of course Office Business is bundled free with better laptops too. 365 seems like a waste of money.

I have an Office 365 subscription, and it seems to be working well!

Now if I had a bluetooth keyboard for it, It would be perfect! Upload all the docs to OneDrive and work from them remotely off the cloud!

Awesome!

BTW, It costs about R60/m if you buy an office 365 year subscription

I couldn't resist the temptation and bought an Office 365 University subscription. R699 for 4 years. Includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher and Onenote. Can be installed on 2 PC's and 2 tablets. For me, this is a better deal than the Home Premium: less devices to install to but much, much cheaper.

Tempted to try this as well... But could someone please confirm the following:

Assume I install it on my personal laptop - everything would synch via my MS account, correct? So I could install Office for iPad etc., and they would sync as well. But the MS Office 2010 running Windows 7 Enterprise on my work computer - that would presumably not be able to hook up with the above, since it's not part of Office 365?

So there wouldn't be a way to get the 365 suite to sync/connect to the Office 2010/Entreprise 'account'?

There is a sign-in option on office 2010. AFAIK that links it all

I am using it for Excel and OneNote. I actually use it more on my iPhone though. I like it.

Not the same thing. The one for iPhone is the little junior mobile version. Office for iPad is a very much more superior version, specifically written from the ground up for iPad.

Well, I can edit a spreadsheet that I created on my desktop without any problem with no noticeable loss of data, formatting etc. Btw, there isn't much of a difference between the iPad and iPhone, other than screen size. My iPhone used the same A7 chip as my iPad. Only other difference being my iPhone is 64gb and iPad is 128gb.

When write apps using iOS, you only have to use different view controllers to support both iPad and iPhone.
