Hey all,

So my office is currently running a bit of an odd setup in terms of connectivity and might benefit from a new solution.
Stability and quality are important.

The office needs:
Uncapped for ~10 users. (10Mb ideally)
Some Fixed IPs to VPN with UK offices

Budget ≤ R5k p/m.

My current thoughts include:
Neotel Fibre 5Mb, includes static IPs, but no SLA - R5100 p/m (excl VAT)

WebAfrica Business Uncapped 10Mb - R3999 p/m (incl VAT) - excludes Telkom fees and once-off for Static IPs

Your thoughts or suggestions would be welcome!

Check that you will in fact get 10mb. More often than not, due to "technical issues" the 10mb slows down to 6mb or less

10Mbps ADSL is only available in some areas, because the Exchange/DSLAM has to support it and your office has to be close to it - within like 1.5km.

We've had quite a few issues with the NeoBroadband Fibre connection and there's not much that we can do since there are no SLA's signed for it.

Hi FuLL_MeT4L,

As Pada says, I'd definitely first weigh up the options on how fast your line can go from a Telkom side. I might be able to check this for you if you like, might only get an answer for you tomorrow though - our Lines department guys work until 5pm.

I can tell you that our Business Uncapped solution is awesome, even though I'm slightly biased ;)

If you aren't familiar with it, we prioritise bandwidth per account, so the Home VPN access will give way for Business users. http://kb.webafrica.co.za/article/A...vity/ADSL/Bandwidth-Priority-Profiles.html#H3

VPN is a top priority for our Business accounts. I can also understand that you'd like some peace of mind with the provider that you're going with. I'm not 100% sure about the SLA side of things, but we run via SAT3 for primary and SEACOM for secondary and redundant links, with priority to business customers in times of an SAT3 outage - which don't occur all that often.

Drop me a PM if you'd like a Sales agent to give you a shout :)

Thanks for the responses all!

The line currently syncs at 8Mb here. Which is enough to warrant the 10Mb over 4Mb, I would think?

With regards to the SLA's I think that 1 year with Neotel with absolutely no guarentee of so much as being able to check your email is too risky so I'll have to ditch this plan.

I'm not sure about WA's SLA's but frankly it's not too important as the Business Uncapped solution isn't a contract and can be cancelled at any time? (Correct me if I'm wrong here Jeff)

Any other suggestions or experiences from other people who've used WA Business Uncapped would be excellent!

Just to add here, what you can also do is trail the account for a month. If it doesn't do what you want it to do, we'll give you a 30 day money back guarantee :)
