Hey guys.

family member needs a pc for work ( email, browsing, scanning, faxing , pretty much the basics , NOTHING graphical )

can anyone suggest a setup for around 2500 rand ?

excluding case. i can find one lying around and power supply.

so the following will be required:

motherboard + CPU + Ram

ps: no CPU cooler as CPU should come with one, also motherboard needs onboard graphics.

thanks in advance, i would not have a clue where to start for this :(

Have a look on carbonite.co.za
You could most probably pick up a core 2 duo setup for less than 2k.

you can get a desktop from matrix for just over 2 grand, inc case, dvd, 500gb hard drive and 2 gb ram and if you install ubuntu you can save 500-2000 on the os

yea that could be a good idea with pc zone... but problem is i dont want a hard drive / PSU / case as ive got a few of those lying around. i simply jus need a cpu + board + ram :P

Look for a G41 motherboard, Asrock and Foxconn are the cheapest (R450), an Intel Celeron E3400 Dual 2.6Ghz Processor (R450) and a 2GB DDR3 module (R150). Throw in Windows 7 Starter (R500) and you should be good to go.

That might work out more expensive. Weigh up the options and then decide.
