Hi there,

This is my 1st post & hopefully someone will be able to give me some advice...

We're moving offces to a new building & Telkom say it's still going to take 3 MONTHS to install the lines & ADSL...!!! Far too long!!!

Does anyone have ANY SUGGESTIONS? We have an 0861 Tel No which we'll need to divert to the new line. We need two incoming lines for voice calls, we need to be able to access the internet & we need to be able to send & receive faxes. We're on a tight budget... so we need something affordable. We're in Umhlanga Rocks, KZN

I really appreciate and advice & suggestions.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply! excuse my ignorance, what is WiMax & do you know the costs? Thanks!

WiMax is simply put wireless internet, but it is plenty good enough to run 3-4 Voice-Over-IP (VOIP) conversations at the same time.
The charges are similar if not exactly the same as ADSL, so roughtly 70-80 rand per gigabyte.

But, that's only the beginning of your problems, you'll need the services of a VOIP service provider to convert the normal 0861 * calls into VOIP calls and you'll possibly also probably need to upgrade your switchboard to use the newer technology.

But, for this to even be possible, you'll first need some kind of internet connection, and, according to : http://www.iweek.co.za/ViewStory.asp?StoryID=175887, WiMax is present in KZN, so it may be an option for you.

Phone 10219, hold for an hour or so, and ask them if WiMax is available where your offices will be.

If WiMax is available, then you have to begin looking for VOIP service providers.
