You need to sit down and do the math. Look at mb+cpu+ram for the red & blue teams and see what they cost. Right now I'd get myself a really cheap i7-6700 and the build will be significantly cheaper than a ryzen build, I'm cheap like that :D

A rysen 1600 + MB + 16GB 3200MHz RAM will cost R7700, R2800 more than the i7 build which I'd rather pump into a better GPU. The 3200MHz ram is actually not crazy expensive compared to the 2400 stuff.

Why don't you buy one, don't you have mates or family coming over to the UK that can bring it with them? If I came over there I would bring you one but unfortunately I'm not doing that trip any time soon.

It depends on your needs. 16GB 3200MHz ram is also not so expensive anymore.

No it's not that more expensive. 3200MHz only about R150 more than 2400MHz RAM, that said Ryzen is quite picky about the RAM you can use when it comes to the higher frequencies, seems to prefer a certain type of Samsung RAM (can't remember the details).

That's a BIOS issue. As I understand it's been mostly fixed.

That's a risk you take with any ram. If you look at the manual you'll see they list the compatible ram. Motherboards don't always work with all ram modules for some strange reason.

Flashed the update and was able to go from 2667 to 2933. Removed the second rank modules and got to 3333. Memory is rated at 3466 so ya, not there yet.
 
MSI B350 PC Mate.

AMD blames motherboard and memory makers but I think that's rather disingenuous. AMD really messed this one up and should have spent more time on the memory controllers and listened to advice.

Seeing as Ryzen is heavily dependent on memory to unlock its full potential it should ideally have 4 channels unganged. Let's just hope this is something they can completely fix with microcode updates.
 
Ok figured out I have Samsung (CE80) memory. Just don't know if there is any way to see if it's the supposed B-dies AMD has been raging on about without removing the heatsink. If so then 3333 in single rank is rather a let down. Or maybe I should just look for a mobo that can set FSB.
