Official AMD Ryzen Reviews

Reserving this spot for a few choice benchmarks
 
Heavy excited for all the reviews, finally!

Just beginning now with the guru3d review,
All these should keep me busy for a few hours..
 
Once games start using more cores the Ryzen stuff will be well worth it, currently... if you have a 7600k/7700k .. meh, wait for the next version of Ryzen / multi-core games.

Yeah, but it is a window where Intel may catch up on the pricing scheme and innovation.
 
Oky so read somewhere that the ryzen r5 is for gaming and the r3 for home office/business use,probably wait and see
 
This is the best sentence I've read about this from a purely gaming perspective:

"Basically what I'm trying to say is don't let hope turn to hype which leads to a poor buying decision. " *HardwareCanucks

It is not the best CPU for gaming but it is darn close, and at that price well... its what you fancy.

What AMD did was to create a product which gave the consumer choice, the very reason why Intel priced their products accordingly (and expensively). Now we have healthy competition, which may also inspire Intel in advancing their tech whereby AMD do not have to play catch-up anymore or at this stage.

AMD did the market good.

I only hope that Vega is promising.

Looking at it, it's due to having double the cores = lower clock speeds than the 7700K.
Quite interested to see what the 1500 series does based on this.

For instance, we discovered Ryzen's tendency to perform better in games with SMT disabled. Could this be a scheduling issue that might be fixed later? AMD did respond to our concerns, reminding us that Ryzen's implementation is unique, meaning most game engines don't use if efficiently yet. Importantly, the company told us that it doesn’t believe the SMT hiccup occurs at the operating system level, so a software fix could fix performance issues in many titles. At least one game developer (Oxide) stepped forward to back those claims. However, you run the risk that other devs don't spend time updating existing titles.

So give it a month and see what happens I guess, hopefully sorted by the time the "gamer" processors launch.
 
how does this work..on linus the amd does par with intel in games but with other reviewers amd did 10-15fps less?

Haven't watched them yet (on a train). Did they all use the same or similar test setups?

I haven't watched the Linus review(will leave it probably for last as I sometimes can get annoyed by him)

From the reviews I've read, they have used high end GTX1080 graphics cards,
at lower resolutions of say 1080p where the games are not GPU starved then the
FPS is lower on the 1800x, not so much on older titles like metro last light,
but on newer titles looks like there are some difference.
At higher resolutions from 1440p upwards FPS performance of the few benches I've seen
are nearly identical across most the CPU's, because then it is more GPU bound than CPU.

I feel intel is paying reviewers to make it look bad for amd

Not looking bad to me, AMD is performing really well from where they came,
also everything is brand new, will probably see some improvement from optimization.

and waiting to see what Vulkan can bring to these extra cores/threads.

I'm also still on Ivy bridge (3770K), not in a rush to upgrade unless something decides to pack up,
but will be jumping on the R7 when I do, not for pure gaming though.

Reviewers are now done with the 1800x flagship,
and we should now expect them to work on the 1700x reviews next, which
is about R2000 cheaper than the 1800x, that would probably be the reviews
to look out for, if they can get decent overclocks out of it then its the one
to buy for me.
 
Not sure if anyone keen on serious OCing has heard, but Ryzen CPU's should NOT be delidded: they're soldered.
