I agree 100%. Sometimes guys bitch and moan just because they think they can. I warned a bunch of guys yesterday that if they don't stop their moaning they will be unceremoniously dumped!
 
FYI - "[CR]Brink of Insanit" banned from impi server for wall/texture hack. Named and shamed.
 
@janseng - apparently this was happening to me as well. I did two changes. Maxpackets to 100 and maxrate to 25000. The game became MUCH more smooth and I started enjoying the game much more :)

code said it was the max packets. So I'll take his word for it. But its awesome. Occasional lag glitch/ stutter, but overall game is smooth now

Well, we're positive. Dunno what you mean with confirmed? You can check my shared theater for his play on Nuketown. I actually caught him two nights ago, when I was 80% sure, but didn't mention anything as I'd like to be 100% sure before even voicing my opinion. I gave a few guys his nick to help check and then last night he popped up on our server and the rest is history.

Definitely maxpackets as sv_maxrate is server side. If you remember correctly it was the very first patch, implemented by GameServers.

Maxpackets=100 should NOT be used on 384kbs connection. Trust me. ;)
 
oh crap hax that VAC cant pickup yet. :(

It's not necessarily undetectable. VAC took 2 weeks to ban offenses in MW2, so perhaps it just hasn't kicked in yet for this poor noob. That's the beauty of dedicated servers though. With MW2 you had to play with these freaks for weeks before they mysteriously disappeared from public servers.

Well, there is this one server, can't remember name, ranked server, where the console tells you that if your ping is over 150, you will be kicked, but I am not sure if there is a admin doing the kicking or if it is automated...

DSW's server? You can do it as Slaughter has mentioned earlier or use a utility called AlterRcon and manually of course. :)

Because of the line speed? I want to try it on my iburst? or will it fail as well?

Shark, best is to do it ingame. Join a server and check your ping. Then type in console (~) /cl_maxpackets 100. Check ping again and if it's fine happy fragging. The maxpackets variable is for the amount of packets sent to the server. Increasing it will allow for smoother gameplay at the cost of latency.
 
@code - strangely enough, my ping decreased from 65 to 50 on the jhb servers... Was my maxpackets then above 100?

That IS weird, mate. Are you sure it didn't decrease due to ISP switch? I don't think you would've had a higher setting than 100 as you would have serious issues then.
 
Nope. I was on the same account the whole of last night. I changed the settings while I was in a game and it changed the lagometer virtually instantaneously.

Whatever it was, the choppyness has gone. Just the occasional lag spike now...
 
Well you've always been a bit of an anomaly. :)

You're saying you're literally sending more packets at a lower latency. Check ingame again. Set maxpackets to 30 and check if your ping increases. Not the lagometer, but physical ping.
 
What I meant about the lagometer was that I used to get what looked like tiny green waves, then when I changed it to the 100, it changed the green waves to more of a line effect. Not sure if that makes sense, but that's what I saw. Then I looked at the actual ping and that had gone from 65 to 50.... :)

@sharkbait - I am quite a serious gamer. I don't download and game at the same time, and I use a capped account from mweb for the gaming. So I wouldn't waste that on downloads.

I think AF needs to play kk,dsw and sg. But only once we have finalised our teams... I also don't think the whole prestige thing helps as we don't have any decent guns till level 17... So I won't play any clannies untill I've got my 74u... We also only have 2 guys dedicated to prestiging...(Passed 3rd prestige)
