Official Black Ops Discussion Thread

Two more days til escalation, and the game becomes intense again, nobody knows whats what, new maps new strategy, love it!:)

That second match came down to the wire bud! 13 - 12???? Close, but unfortunately no cigar! I reckon if it was not for the timeouts we might have been closer in the third match, because for a while there we played with only 4 - with Radeon being up and down it was basically 3...

That second match was intense... Used up all my adrenalin on it, so not much left in the tank for the 3rd, lol.

Hold on... So in other words we are still tied???? We won the first one, tied the second and they won the third??? Is that what you are saying Janseng?

Laat weet wanneer julle wil speel, sorry was gisteraand bietjie besig... :)

Enige tyd tussen so 6:30 - 7:30... (PM) LOL...

well depends who lost the least amount of rounds.but you could say its a draw.

Call of Duty Elite, pay up!

Activision is to launch a paid subscription Call of Duty portal along with Modern Warfare 3

It would appear that Activision Publishing will be realising their long-rumoured dream of introducing a subscription scheme for the Call of duty franchise. This service, previously discussed under the name of Beachhead, will be named Call of Duty Elite – presumably because parting with money for a Call of Duty digital content monetisation scheme somehow makes you ‘Elite’.

Throwing all caution to the wind, and press embargoes be damned, The Wall Street Journal has gone ahead and revealed the project before the rest of the gaming press, who are fastidiously sticking to the aforementioned embargo. Until the allotted time on 31 May 2011, when the ‘official’ details will begin to emerge, we have the info from The Wall Street Journal to go by.

Activision plans to launch Call of Duty Elite alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which is planned to be hitting shelves on 8 November 2011, and it will of course support all future iterations of the Call of Duty franchise. The plan is to charge a subscription fee for the service and offer additional content that doesn’t come with the standard retail package, such as map packs.

Certain features will be free, such as Facebook integration and matchmaking. The service will also include ‘Call of Duty’ tools to enable players to track and analyse their in-game performance and statistics.

Activision says that they have not yet figured out how much they will charge for the service, but they are looking closely at comparable monthly subscription online entertainment services, such as the US$7.99 (±R55) Netflix streaming movie service, and Activision Blizzard’s own World of WarCraft which costs around US$15 (±R103) per month.

Those who game via Xbox LIVE can expect to pay for a Call of Duty Elite subscription on top of their LIVE Gold subscription fee.

Bollocks to that!

Im not sure why and what they are trying to do, it seems they have their backs up against the wall, with BF3 - 64 players huge destructable maps, Activision seem desperate to me, they are trying to come across as different and new, when in fact they are just splitting up their original product and charging for two parts, so if you can afford it you are "COD Elite", poorer players who cant afford it will just be COD players, how clever. what else is new Craptivision

i definately wont be able to afford a monthly subscription just to play multiplayer maps, not gonna bother with MW3 or this Ellite rubbish, wont be able to get map packs, so no point in getting the original SP MP

MW3 online multiplayer is free, it is only PORTIONS of the Elite that you will have to pay for...

if its map packs its a fail, you would have to pay for them and then pay to play them on your subscription, if its just an annoying social networking addon, they must of enjoyed /shat themselves when they saw the BF3 trailer, almost everyday since there have been arb MW3 'leaks' that quite frankly just dont cut it. Im more interested in Modtools for Black Ops and keen to see what maps if any are created.

If it's like R50 then maybe but that's probably my upper limit... the matchmaking doesn't sound that much better than whats already available through steam. Stats don't interest me that much and I have a feeling DLC will be outside of the subscription... purely because they don't want to limit their market for DLC even more.

I created a MW3 discussion thread... Can we move this convo there? Otherwise we are derailing this one (again) ;)
