English sports tabloid Daily Star report that Premier League club Chelsea have made Barcelona’s Dani Alves (26) their main priority for this summer’s transfer window.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti wants a new attacking right-back and the Brazilian apparently fits the bill perfectly. Chelsea will also face competition from Manchester City for the full back’s signature.
Alves has been linked with Chelsea during the summer of 2007, but he chose to go to Barcelona in 2008 from Sevilla, for a reported transfer fee of €30 million.
Alves contract with Barcelona runs out in 2012 and Chelsea want to try and use that to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
Reports in Spain suggest that both clubs have been in touch with the Brazilian’s agent and they are prepared to better his £100,000-a-week wages.
thanks chelsea for losing against liverpool. the gap is now 1 point
Blegh, what a pathetic game.
We perform awesome, score quick, then fall asleep.
Now there is only 1 point in it...
Why is everyone upset with Terry - it is his job as a CB to cover for his fellow defender when he leaves a gap....John Terry granted leave by Chelsea to miss FA Cup tie against Cardiff

Fabio Capello's World Cup preparations suffered a major setback tonight after the England left-back Ashley Cole, one of his proven world-class players, was ruled out for three months with a fractured ankle, leaving him only weeks to prove his fitness before the tournament begins.
"It is sad news for me because he is a very important player," the England coach said last night. "He is good when he is defending and really dangerous when we go forward. I hope this problem will not be so strong [serious]."
The injury to England's first-choice left-back increases the likelihood of Wayne Bridge and John Terry, whose relationship has been sundered by the Chelsea captain's alleged affair with Bridge's former girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel, starting alongside each other at this summer's World Cup. Asked about Cole's prospects of making the tournament the Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti, told Sky last night: "I don't know. I hope so for him and for the England team."
Cole was forced off in the 57th minute of Chelsea's 2-1 defeat at Everton following a strong but fair challenge by Landon Donovan, the captain of the United States team who will provide England's first opponents in South Africa.
