I think it will be hosted as well no need to worry about that hopefully not just by Mweb.

Its very unclear... cant find anything definitive. From what I gather only the elite version will have ranked servers... I hope not, that would suck balls. With like just over two weeks left before launch we dont know how the servers are going to work?!?! Rented like Blops ?? Dedicated like COD 4 ?? Google it and see what you come up with? I would like to know what and how!

This elite version is going to make issues for normal versions.... eish

There is no official word as to how the servers are going to work.... All we know is that there are going to be dedicated servers.

IRG... I am wondering the same. I want my own server for MW3 though.

Well, we only heard 2 weeks before blops that we would get servers in SA, so there is still time. ;)

e Dedicated Servers Ranked or UnRanked?


Only matchmaking to public games are Ranked (meaning, you have to rank up to unlock weapons to rank on the leaderboards), choosing to play on a Dedicated Server is UnRanked. Meaning unlocks are completely controlled by the Server Admin. They can choose to unlock everything or limit class restrictions to whatever they like to fully customize the experience. You do not have to rank up in Public games to have access to weapons in Dedicated Servers, you have complete control over what is unlocked for you in a Unranked Dedicated Server.

At first I thought this was a fail... but we have complete control of the server including what is unlocked. This would mean I would never have to prestige :D

But does that mean that you will have a K/D ratio or not as it is not ranked on the public server?

yeah, but prestiging was one of the main reasons why I played. If you aren't playing for something, why play at all?
 
and they give you a prestige store credit, apparently for every time you have prestiged in any COD:)
 
Seems silly to do away with rank on dedi servers... If the idea is that you can choose what perks/weapons people get then why don't they let you pick whether you want your server to be ranked or unranked? It worked for black ops and it works for just about every other multiplayer fps... The pc dev team must have a retarded manager.
 
@Acid - If its unranked no stats are going to be recorded which means no K/D

@Sharkbait - I see your point. A lot of players aim towards something or leveling up keeps them coming back. I didn't finish leveling up in MW2 and Black Ops because the AK47 was always at a higher level. I am happy with firing off my AK47 and playing Mosh or SND.

Seems so f#$@# stupid that you can only prestige through match making. Was looking really forward to have a game like mw2 with dedicated servers, just so zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Why oh why, do they do stupid **** like this.
