Anyone else having a issue with the game not installing from DVD but rather downloads it from Steam? I have the DVD's but it loads and then starts steam and a 14Gb download!? PC version of course

Tried all the work a rounds i could google, but most were for MW2 and didnt work F@#$

ah this worked for me:
Using Steam launch options to install retail games from disc
Log in to Steam and click on Library.
Right-click on the game, select Delete local content, and confirm.
Insert the first disc into your computer.
Close Steam (Steam > Exit).
Press Windows Key + R to open Run
In the Run window type:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:
Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.
Press OK. Steam will launch and ask you to sign in if you do not have your password saved. Your installation should continue from the disc.

First un-install the game using the DVD menu, then delete local content - that's what I did
i.e. take DVD out, put back in. Start autoplay. The Menu offers re-install and un-install.
Choose un-install.
I then went offline in Steam and then back online - delete local content

Found this for the ping bar, actually the same as MW2. Changed it, but haven't tested.

Did you open the MW3 Dedicated servers shortcut? Because that is only if you want to join a dedi server. Open the MW3 Multiplayer shortcut and Bob's your uncle.

Epicness! I don't care what any one says but MW3 is awesomeI loved every second of it last night. Oh and sorry Slaughter for being an idiot. I got us both killed with the predator missile lol.

Black ops looked way better... Multi is fun, lag was irritating me though.
I struggled with Hit Reg on MP last night... 
I can see an enemy clearly and I can tell I am hitting him, but I can't kill him, then he swings around and one or two hits and I'm gone...
I am running 4MB, so not sure what the issue was - It was toward the latter part of the evening, so wrote it off on Steam being pummeled by requests. Hopefully tonight will be better.

yea the game should run smooth on the duo E7300 ive got a E4500 and 8800GT with 4mb ram and it was fine just battled with joining games and bad LAG! any one else battle last night?
Yep - MWEB has 10. We'll check them out tonight. We might be changing TS again - Afrihost is willing to give us 6 channels...
Yep - as mentioned above. I am writing it down to Steam being hammered. You will notice that by the time you are in game the guys also have about 4/5 kills...
If you upgrade your overall experience will be better.
