Official Currie Cup Thread 2012

Western Province players Jebb Sinclair and Tyrone Holmes appeared before a Disciplinary Committee (DC) held at the SA Rugby Union (Saru) offices on Tuesday.

Both appeared having been red carded for ill-discipline in their team's Currie Cup loss to The Sharks on Saturday.

Judicial Officer Peter Ingwersen ruled that Sinclair was severely provoked in that he was struck five times by his opponent with an open hand before he retaliated.

The offence was classified as a 'low end contravention' which carries a two-week suspension as sanction, unless compelling on-field or off-field mitigating features were found.

The DC found such mitigating features existed in this case and the sending off was considered to be sufficient sanction.

Sinclair will therefore be available for WP's Currie Cup clash with Griquas in Cape Town on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Holmes was ruled to have been severely provoked but was never subjected to a physical attack as in the case of Sinclair.

Holmes's retaliation meant he was guilty of striking an opponent.

The offence was classified as a two-week sanction ban.

The player was provoked but not to the degree that it warranted his actions and the mitigating circumstances means Holmes was therefore suspended for one week, which rules him out of this weekend's action.

M_H complaining all the time. you sound like an old women with a wet panty. These sharks supporters are never happy and hear i thought they only complain about the ref every weekend.

I know a person should support your team to the death, but being biased. I am sorry, but that is just wrong. So you are saying, if a person pushes you and shoves you 5 times. You just going to stand there and do nothing. COME on !! If I was Jebb I would of done exactly the same and I think the red card is sufficient.

If the roles were reversed, you would of probably said the ruling is correct

Too bad it doesn't show Deysel being pulled out of the maul by his neck. I recorded the match and will upload a more detailed and complete video later on...

I did not upload the video, I did not moer Deysel and I certainly did not get Jebb Sinclair off the hook.

I posted the video because it was the only one floating around.
 
I lol'd when I posted my reply because I thought out loud if I'm allowed to comment on the shoddy video without someone getting overly offended ....... as if it was an attack on their family :rolleyes:

I usually comment if something in a video is bullshyte even if I post it. Judging by the way everyone else is making it out to be - everything from lols to the puncher being made the victim - it's widely condoned.

And we're supposed to believe you? How do we know you are not Jebb? C'mon - prove it. In fact, you could be the ref. Sorry, I have my doubts now.:p

Love to know how so many AR's every week can miss the massive forward passes so blatantly .......
 
Take away the 2x tries that should have been disallowed - massive forward pass and knock on - and it will be a true reflection ;) Starting to think that AR's and TMO's are pulling lekker Hansie moves lately.
