Everton threw everything at WBA, but nothing found the back of the net. Very disappointed.

I think they have done similar sh,t about 3-4 times this season.


The Toffees seem to be the best team to turn winning scenarios into draws/losses....
 
Worst game Everton played this entire season - completely clueless - don't think there was a single shot on target.

Can only assume that they are preserving themselves for the FA Cup
 
At the time of his hiring, I said the acid test for Martinez would be to maintain and build on Moyes' solid defensive system. Unfortunately, it seems that his defensive frailties as a manager are still there and haunting him once again. Like Wigan, there is nothing wrong with Everton when they go forward, but they seem to lack a coherent defensive system.

Moyes had many critics, but one thing he would not do is throw a result away and Everton under Martinez have become exceedingly effective at doing just that. They just cannot close up shop when they should and it is hurting them and may even cost Martinez his job.

This season the only EPL team able to close up shop seems to be Leicester but even so doing it in Europa/Champions league is almost near impossible

What is remarkable is that at the start of the season they couldn't buy a clean sheet, but ss the talk of being champions left the realm of fantasy and became reality they suddenly started tightening up.

As for Martinez, I'm not quite sure what his philosophy is regarding defence.
