OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

Its irritating me, one add was for "Sexy pics" WTF!!! I have only installed two apps so far. Would it be one of them?

You should only see the add inside the app itself - so it would be the app that has the add inside. Most free apps have paid versions if it irritates you that much.

I've installed the Market Enabler app. How do I know if it is working or not?

Spoof a market within the enabler, then search for an app that you know is paid. Or just search around - if you see something with a price, then it is working.

I've got my Desire today from Vodacom.
Talk 120 with per second billing (R300p/m)
Cash pay in of R1150-00
No Itemised billing.

HOW, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN????????????

Every place I phoned today still have a R1599 pay-in on the Desire on a Talk500

How on earth did you manage to only pay in R1150 on a Talk120?

I got my Desire on Sat, pay-in R1599 on Talk500 as stated, my Talk130 is also due and as far as I know The pay-in for the Legend on the Talk130 is also R1599.

Please give details!

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

The HTC Desire seems like a great phone but apparently the HTC distributor of the phone in South Africa, LEAF, is absolutely useless. Several issues with updates. Check out this blog:
Why you probably shouldn’t buy an HTC phone in South Africa.

Been there, read that, burned the T-shirt....We Root, we hack and we crack....sometimes. Whichever way, there will be troubles....but there is always a way past them. Maybe we should all avoid buying cars because of the Toyota thing...and we have Toyotas all around us....

Need help with MMS settings for MTN did the *123*12# thing and received and saved the settings but I am still not able to send or receive MMS’es. Get the following error messages Unable to send message – Generic network failure and Message not downloaded - Generic network failure -

Lol, that blog article has been linked on this forum like 10 times before. It doesnt help that the rant the guy goes on is 70% misinformed. The update for the magic did take a while though, but it did eventually come out. Hopefully leaf can learn from their mistakes and get the updates for the Hero and Desire out quicker. Especially since they now distribute phones that have a much more significant market share than they used to.

Need help with MMS settings for MTN did the *123*12# thing and received and saved the settings but I am still not able to send or receive MMS’es. Get the following error messages Unable to send message – Generic network failure and Message not downloaded - Generic network failure -

Settings, Wireless and Networks, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names

For MMS you should have

Name: MTN MMS
APN: myMTN
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: mtnmms
Password: mtnmms
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mms.mtn.co.za/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 196.11.240.241
MMS Port: 8080
MMS protocol :Wap 2.0
MCC: 655
MNC: 10 or 103
Authentication type: <Not set>
APN Type: mms

Try sending an MMS from your number to your number. If that does not work then either you not provisioned for mms or settings are wrong. If it works but you still cannot send/receive mms from other numbers, then problem is on MTN's side. Is your number ported to MTN?
