I am up for an upgrade in September and the One is on my short list. The only negative that I could find in the reviews that I have read is the camera. It seems most reviewers feel the camera is not that great compared to the S4 as an example. So how good or bad is the camera?

To be honest, I found it to be not that great. If you are going to use it casually then it's perfect but don't go taking photo's while you are on holiday.

Like HTC said,most people take photos with their phones for FB,twitter ect so the camera is excellent for that purpose ..the more megapixel a camera has the bigger resolution it has..then again are you going to take pictures and print 32" photos? don't believe you will..Ultrapixel =great for those moments when you are with friends,wanting to capture a weird,stunning ect moment and posting it online ..Atm phone makers are in a megapixel race that is getting insane! HTC felt to go their own way like iPhone

True! I had a lumia 920 and a Galaxy S3. Both of them are 8 megapixel camera's but the difference in picture quality was immense.. I would probably take the lumia 920's 8 megapixel camera over the S4's 13 megapixel one.

My Gf has the S4 and i've tested her camera compared to my HTC. The HTC quality is much better, more realistic colours...and absolutely kicks ass in low light / indoor photo's.

what youtube and reviews tell me is that HTC One is very accurate with colors ,what the eye sees type thing,where the S4 is over exposed with colors ,none realistic colors

I will second (or rather, third) that. Can't compare the One to the S4 coz I haven't used the SGS4 yet, but as far as realistic colours - it's a big YES. My pics come out very close to what the eye sees.

The s4 screen looks like somebody turned the colour and contrast settings up a little too high.

The S4 does really over expose... it saturates the picture with color.... it has a almost fake look to it.
 
OMG OMG!! and :( ...MTN just phoned me saying my HTC One M7 has arrived but they close at 5pm and tomorrow is a public holiday grrr!! But i can come in Saturday :DDD oh the joy my headache just disappeared

Yay!! :D So chuffed for you! It's those last couple days of waiting that are the worst. Watch lots of HTC One-related YT videos (if you haven't already seen them all. lol). It helps the time pass - I promise. :)
