For being a 'barely there' case it is perfect, as for drops that is something I dont buy a case for because they get treated like my other children, main purpose for me is placing it down on a surface and the odd bump it may get

Its like chosing between a reliable Toyota Corolla and the sexier Renault Meganne. You just know that the Toyota (Samsung) support and parts/accesory availability will be brilliant in SA while the same for Renault (HTC) in SA will be non existent.

When it comes to support and accessories, Samsung in SA demolishes HTC. The AlwaysOn 1GB free wifi per month and Samsung accidental warranty just helps the S4's case.
But boy, I will always be looking at the HTÇ One's with envy. :)

Has anyone gotten a message to upgrade to Android 4.3, on this phone yet? Need to know before I get mine...

I was also contemplating getting this case, but from the reviews i read online it seems that the raised dots on the ends start to peel of and a while so i decided against it. I've been using this phone for 2 days now without a case. Waiting for it to be delivered. Although the phone is beautiful bare, i just don't trust myself not damaging it or scratching it. I am very nervous using it. coming from a HTC Desire this phone is much bigger so i am a bit weary using it without a case. Also having a aluminium casing, it will scratch more than my soft touch Desire. I bought the Case Mate Barely there in black. Hope this helps.

It's only in test stages on alot of the devices so i doubt we will be getting any upgrade notifications soon. The phone is still running Android 4.1 currently

LOL thats funny, im also coming from HTC Desire to the HTC one. Same fears... it is a beautiful phone, but i have my 'bull in a china shop' moments. I would wrap this phone in layers and layers of bubble wrap if i could...but that just wont be functional :-P

Seriously, don't get a massive cover cos this fone is too beautiful to cover up. try get something that offers some protection and still highlights the beauty of this phone. It will be a bit of a trade off. being in the minority with this phone give is sort of a premium exclusivity factor. It a jaw dropper of note.

JAW dropper is an understatement bud
Since I got it pretty much anyone that has even caught a glance of it , has stopped to ask what it is and complimented on how awesome it looks , I came from a Desire HD to this and well to be honest my DHD is still pristine but I had a cover on that ?

Im just weary it'll end up looking boring and like any other cheapy :cough:S4 :cough: phone out there in a case .

pros: the IR remote, battery life (lasts me a day with heavy use, 1 and half with normal use, two days with minimal use), overall build quality, the stereo speakers, silky smooth UI responsiveness

cons: the power button is on the wrong side (difficult for one hand operation for right handers), Blinkfeed ... be nice if it could be disabled ...

BTW ... today i visited china city in johannesburg south (Amalgam), better half was looking for a cosmetic bag ... i popped into one of the cellphone stores and bought an el cheapo screen protector for R30 called "L&H Johannesburg" for the HTC One M7... lol ... i don't remember the shops name ... all i do remember was tons of boxes on the floor with accessories in each box for different phone models ... the store had some tpu horrible looking back gel cases for the HTC one which i didnt bother with ... i fitted the screen protector and to my surprise ... its damn good. clarity is amazing, no discernable loss in image quality, fits the screen perfect, not sticky, finger glides across, For R30!!! ... im very surprised its pretty good ... and here i was thinking its gonna be crap and id have it on until my R300 mediadevil screen protector arrives from overseas ... but now im thinking of just keeping it on, ... i did get some dust under the screen but used the scotch tape trick to remove any dust i did have on the protector ... its looks near perfect like there is nothing on the screen ... and for R30 its worth the risk ...

I hope the so called "price reduction" from Vodacom is tomorrow on the 8th July.Then ill go for it,and wont wait for MTN. If its about R350-R380 then thats good :)
 
I just got really really excited and was going over to Vodacom World in Midrand to get it, but the front page says Valid 7 June and 6 July :(
 
I think thats a mistake maybe.....because isnt this the new book?

Im going tomorrow to Canal Wlak CT to find out.
