Official HTC One thread

Bit lazy as on my HTC one. Can someone start a new thread for technical discussions relating to this phone as opposed to where and how to get it?
 
Wow, this phone is impressive.

I dont think you realise how loud the speakers are until you hear it in person.
It's louder than some laptop speakers, in my opinion
 
Got my Case Mate barely there yesterday and i must say it is quite nice. Protects the phone well without creating too much bulk. The matte black finish gives it a nice look.
 
Apparently the googe play edition is going to be android 4.3. Wonder whether we will be able to install it on ours (without rooting that is...)
 
aaaaaaand I'm still waiting for my One from Autopage head office Midrand. Been waiting for them to get stock.....
 
Bought an HTC one yesterday.. Liking it.. Now we need 4.2.2, wake up Vodacom. :p

Yep, and we will have to wait for Vodacom to release the update. This is the reason i'm just going to flash the RUU and update from there. That way I will never have to wait on Vodacom.

Pro's:

- Amazing screen
- Sense 5 is very smooth. The only time i experience a lag here and there is when I'm on Powersaver.
- Sense 5 is super elegant. You can see it was thought out. It feels like I'm using the iPhone of Android.
- The battery lasts an entire day (even with heavy usage).
- Build quality
- The sound quality and volume is unrivaled.
- Low light performance of the camera
- Zoe highlights:love:
- It can send photos and play video highlights on a DLNA media player out of the box from the gallery.

Con's
- The power button takes getting used to but is not a problem.
- You need to learn how to take photos with the camera as it changes the exposure based on the area you focus on.
- You can't add custom sources to Blinkfeed.

This is all that I can think of now.

I didn't find this a problem for myself,
It's similar to the HTC Desire button, there is a very very sligh raise of the power button. It's not flush with the phone, so you can feel it and push it.

Why are you guys so against rooting , I rooted mine before I even switched it On .
There are so many benefits to it .
Shes a beauty of a Phone :)

I will be rooting soon. Just reading up a bit, as it is very different from rooting a Samsung.

There is so many ways of rooting. Which did you use?
 
Got the dev Unlock token from Htc
And used TWRP worked a charm , rooting is not only about custom Rom's its about doing so much more
well Im a tweaker so I guess it interests me
 
Guys, does anyone have the apk for Smart IR Remote for HTC One, it's been pulled from the play store :-( or a link to another app on the Play Store that works as well?
 
Think i'll rot my old Desire and see how that goes. If it goes well i might consider doing it. I am happy with the phone so far so no need to do it just yet.
 
Guys MTN saying end of July they will have limited stock...anyone pre-ordering yet?
