Official HTC One thread

anybody buy the HTC ONE from ORANGE? can you give me some experiences?
Please

I picked mine up last Friday from Autopage in Westwood Mall. I was looking at the Orange website, at the HTC One and was seriously considering ordering the black one from them. I then thought, what the heck, let me give Autopage a call for the last time and just see. What do you know, but the person I spoke to (ask for Musab; he's pretty helpful) said that they just got some in stock.

I asked Musab to reserve a black HTC One for me and that I'll pick it up on Friday. I went to the store, and they had just one left. It was the silver one. I took it as stock is so limited, and I was not going to wait ages for the black version.

The build quality on this phone is amazing! Coming from an HTC Desire HD, I have no issues with the power button being where it is. HTC have really knocked the ball out of the park with the HTC One. I honestly don't know how they're going to top this in the next 12 - 18 months.

Hey guys.. Got my One, just wanted to find out how many of you have a he gaps at the top and bottom? Those small lines? Also, my sim slot doesn't fit flush to the plastic rim and seems off shape? Another common issue my zone has is that the screen is lifted on the top, so you can feel the level change between the top grill and the screen? Anyone else face issues?

No issues here. I have a screen guard on and still can't feel anything.
My sim tray also fits in perfectly, are you using a proper micro sim or did you cut it?

It is cut, but I don't think that's what caused it because there's a gap on the side?

Dude I had to move from mtn to Voda. If mtn doesn't want to listen to it's customer's requests then they can kiss my ass.

Did you wait for your contract to finish full term before moving or did you pay the penalty fee (and if you did, how much was it)?

My contract had expired in October 2012 and was running month-on-month.

I was with MTN through Nashua and couldn't find a phone I wanted to upgrade to at the time until The One came along. Eventually when the phone was finally offered by Nashua I upgraded my MTN contract only to be told that they can't offer the One to me as they had initially suggested they would (slight confusion from the guy who did my upgrade that led to a few heated phones and lots of apologies).

When I asked if MTN would offer the phone soon I was told they have no idea. So I certainly refused to stay with the "less serious about my needs" MTN. Moved to Voda and haven't had any issues since. This was about 2 weeks ago.

Oh man... Soo jealous!! My Desire HD is still going strong but the waiting is killing me!

I went through the same process.. I am glad someone understand my pain:D

Thank for all the info and patient replies! Another question...

When you got the phone, what was in the box?
And apart from screen protector/case - what other accessory do you see yourself buying?

In the box was the phone, charger, headset, USB cable, SIM remover and all the manuals.

I have not looked at a case yet. I don’t think a screen protector is necessary, as the HTC One makes use of Gorilla Glass. My Galaxy S2 fell a few times and to date does not have a scratch on the screen :D.

The only accessory that I actually ordered is the Samsung HS3000 bluetooth headset. Heard some good things about it on XDA Forums. I will be using it in the car to listen to music or podcasts. Apparently it is using the APT-X audio codec which greatly enhances audio over bluetooth. More info about APT-X here: AptX

What I will be looking for is a nice dock/charger. If you guys & gals know of any please share ;).

Boxed. No case/cover/screen protector. Box: Mains adapter, in-ear earphones, usb cable mainly.

Nice! I'm currently using the LG HBS-970 wireless bluetooth headphones, paired great with both my Desire and S2. Works really well for audiobooks and music at work and in the car :)

RUU Update

Yep, and we will have to wait for Vodacom to release the update. This is the reason i'm just going to flash the RUU and update from there. That way I will never have to wait on Vodacom.

I'm tired of waiting for the release. I asked on the Vodacom FB page when the 4.2.2 will be available, and they said they're still testing and don't have an ETA for the release yet

Have you updated to 4.2.2? If so, which RUU did you use?

I know exactly how you feel, as I was also mondo jealous of the peeps over here that got their HTC One's before me. I'm sure that you will get your soon. Hang in there.

I have no news about 4.2.2, but I wanted to point out that the size of the download package is roughly 425 MB. To be honest, a 500 MB data bundle is not enough with this phone. I've got a 750 MB data bundle and I think that I'll need to upgrade.
