AB scored 100 of 52 balls. His next 50 came off just 12 balls.

I am more worried about 5th bowler. Behardie for 10 overs?Abbott will bowl 10 overs. That's way more than enough to do the damage trust me!
My call was Phangiso and I'm disappointed the obvious choicr wasn't made. Any way let's hope AB's inspired Steyn&Morkel. Tahir will win us his game, but he's due a bad game so those two need to step up today. I hope people don't blame Farhaan if we lose. Unlikely to lose but remotely possible.I am more worried about 5th bowler. Behardie for 10 overs?
Faf and AB will be needed today.
What makes you think Roach,Badree&Narine won't be there? It's impossible to make those kind of runs with those three there.
I think people forget we're up against 20-30% of their attack during the series and this game.
Roach, Taylor/Holder, Narine, Badree is a tough ask!
I would still stick with qdk. Class comes to the top. Wicket wasn't easy early on all of qdk, hash and faf struggled.
Damn, Rossouw makes things tricky. It's one thing having a player trying to play himself back into form, it's another to have another guy looking in supreme touch on the bench. It's starting to look harder and harder to leave Rossouw out of the line-up.
Quinton needs to relax and accept sometimes the bowling is good enough or the wicket tricky enough that 40/0 after 10 overs is fine....him personally and his coaching needs to get that message drilled into him.
Let's observe the Gayle factor.
9 runs off his first 5 overs
People think it's a forgone conclusion that the Proteas will win. I strongly disagree. Even that stunning catch from Taylor, it galvanised the Windies. They are up for this.
AB is truly a cricketing genius...
At least one of the Windies got a century, Holder 10-0-104-1
Remember the old adage "doubling the 30-over score," Sid Monga has found out that they've near tripled it - South Africa had 147 then, they end up 408! And the sight of AB de Villiers pounding his chest with his helmet after reaching a century was poignant!
He kept hitting sixes at will, and he seemed to be battling dehydration as well. And when that happens a batsman gets seriously dangerous. He knocked Jason Holder around like he was a club cricket bowler - took 34 off an over, the second-worst in World Cups - and has given South Africa a score and half with an innings and a half - the fastest 150 in World Cups by a mile. Not to mention the singles he stole and those that he turned into to twos. The batting powerplay had no dots!
Not to mention, Rilee Rossouw's injection in the middle of the innings. He matched AB shot for shot and fell for the team's cause. Deserves a permanent place in the XI. Not to mention Amla and Faf battling a sluggish pitch early on that was not conducive to hitting on the up at all
Fastest 150 in ODIs, it's the highest ODI score in Australia
Praveen: "Martin Crowe, I love you, please send more such letters" The crowd agrees. It Goes "AB, AB, AB, AB!" Deafening at the SCG
Abbott will bowl 10 overs. That's way more than enough to do the damage trust me!
Absolutely...didnt need the tail today
He was 9 off the first 5, so last 5 went at 19 per over !!
Rossouw just has to play. Most I have seen of him, and he injects energy with AB with the improvisation and running between wickets
I looked back at the stats after seeing your posts.
Parnell is definitely a better wicket taker. Averaging 30 per wicket and has a boat load more wickets than Abbot who has a poor average of 50. If you want to keep the runs down, however, Abbott is far more economical and averages about 1 run per over less than Parnell. On 4 or 5 occasions, Parnell has gone for more than 9 runs per over. Only once has Abbott gone for more than 6 and that was 8.5 a couple of games ago. What you said makes sense, don't pick Parnell to keep the runs down, pick him as a striker. That's fine, but please don't tell me that Abbott is going to be more expensive, on average, than Parnell.
