Official ICC World T20 thread

Just got back home. Sees the result between Aussieland and Sri Lanka. Smiles gleefully.
 
Why couldnt they just have had two groups of six?

Then winner group 1 meets runner up group 2 and winner group 2 meets runner up group 1 in the semis.

It would only be 6 extra games but it would a lot fairer than the silly format they have now.
 
That Aus Lanka game was awesome - something special about watching Lanka win off yet another Y-d after being bounced twice in the same over... extras and accuracy cost Australia... in short, the bowlers.

Teams to beat in this tourney are SA and India. Now lets hope we don't choke.....again :o

We basically have 10 batsmen and 7 bowlers in the pro 20 team :)

I hated that Pakistan innings against Eng... WTF are they doing?
Tonights match will be interesting... NZ not a walk over! Wonder if SA will pull it off.
 
but the outcome of tonights game has no impact on where we play in the next group.... so its actually a useless game tonight, i agree, they need to change the format....

I dont understand...
Isnt it better to finish top of the group so you play the second team in the other group?
 
Nope, pre-seeded. The game tonight is of no consequence except braging rights and perhaps having a unblemished record. In the previous Twenty-20 WC the points + nrr carried thru, not this yr.
 
Well not about bragging rights, it's about keeping momentum going.

We want to go into the next game and the next game off wins not loses.
 
I think the reasoning for this format was a more predictable format for television, fans, and of cause advertising. It's all about money.. So essentially you could buy tickets to ALL sa games pre tournament excl. knockout(semi + final) stage sold separately.
