Official Super Rugby Thread 2012

So, no EP Kings until 2016.

Cheeky sold his soul.

R40m for development over 3 years might just be what the Kings need. Although now was the time for them to enter easily. I don't have an issue with this...

Is this how it works? It is so badly written. On TV, they said STO -vs- QF1 and CHI -vs- QF2 (actually, not in those words, but in very confusing talk that could have meant either).
Naas said last night, what I posted.

Most sites just say:
1st Seed v Lowest-ranked qualifier
2nd Seed v Highest-ranked qualifier

I've said it all along. I'm all for the inclusion of the region into SuperRugby but SARU went about this the wrong way.

Should have promised them Currie Cup inclusion from the start and help them lure back, retain and develop talent.

Pretty much. I don't get why they wanted to frogleap over Currie Cup straight into SupeRugby. Give them a few years in Currie Cup to see how they fair, and to build up some talent.

SuperXV agrees with you. My calls, no emotions, are above. But I will reiterate:

QF1: crusaders -vs- BULLS
Both these SuperRugby firebrands have been enjoying mediocre seasons. They have not really recovered from the losses of key players. While they were strong enough to qualify, that does not equal quality. For all intents and purposes, I regard them as equal at the moment. Same strengths same weaknesses. This game is a coin toss, and as coin tosses go, home side advantage will play a part. I think (unfortunately) that the crusaders (4) will emerge.

QF2: reds -vs- Sharks
Throughout the year, I have criticised the stupid system for rewarding semi-achievers. This is exactly what the Oz conference was this year. Pathetic. The only reason reds are in is because brumbies fell at the worst possible time. At the beginning of the weekend, they need results to go in their favour to qualify. When your destiny is not in your hands, you suck! On 58 points, they are the lowest of the top 6. And they get a home QF? Are they gonna be regarded as the "highest ranked" qualifier? Doesn't matter - Sharks (6) should be able to pip them and emerge victorious.

So that makes Semis:

SF1: Stormers -vs- lowest = Sharks on 6.
SF2: Chiefs -vs- highest = Crusaders on 4.

Computicket...but will probably crash. Remember we not playing next week. Have a nice rest so we can beat our opponents (except if it's our bogey team - the Crusaders!)

are you sure computicket sell SuperXV tickets? I always look but can never find.

1 Stormers
2 Chiefs
3 Reds
4 Crusaders
5 Bulls
6 Sharks

Next week:
Reds v Sharks
Crusaders v Bulls

Following week:
Stormers v Crusaders/Bulls
Chiefs v Reds/Sharks

Bulls are not going to win the Crusaders
Sharks might win the Reds...
The game that is going to be interesting is Stormers vs Crusaders

Another fantastic match by Grant.

Not that Morne should be worried though given Meyer's propensity to pick Bulls players.

You should learn to count mate. There were more sharks in the starting line up than bulls.

+1 bil.

As far as I can see they will be included in the CC. That + the 40 mil can really get them ready for the 2016 Super Series.

Do the Sharks get to take the Reds home if they win them? Where will they keep them? I guess 'n cage will be sufficient for Genia, but what about Samo?

Crusaders vs Bulls
I am a Bulls supporter but I do not see the bulls beating the Crusaders if they do not improve 160% on the last two performances. If the scrums are as bad as they were n Saturday they Crusaders with front foot ball will likely beat the bulls by around 15 points :o

Reds vs Sharks
The Sharks have a golden opportunity because the Reds' forward pack is not performing well over the last two games and if the Sharks' farwards can repeat the performance against the Bulls then they will be on the front foot, and the Sharks have proven that if they are on the front foot they can take on anyone. Also the fact that Cooper is out must bring a smile to any team as his pairing with Genia can be the critical factor in any game.

So then you agree that the crusaders will win the bulls and that sharks will win the reds?:D

My view :

Bulls have 20% chance against Crusaders in Christchurch.

Sharks have 40% chance against Reds in Brisbane.

Stormers have 30% chance in semi-final (based on last semi-final performance).

This year the stormers are going to be the super rugby champs

You have 0% chance of getting any prediction right :D

I don't think so. But maybe I am overestimating the Stormers chances, I was at their last Super Semi at Newlands, and based on their performance that day you have to give them a zero percent chance. They are Super chokers !

you forgot that the stormers only lost twice in 16 games even though they have not played their best rugby in 60% of their games. they have learned from last year and the team is very consistent. only erea of concern is the loosies. for the sharks to beat the reds, they have to dominate upfront and start very good. bulls need to play the game among the forwards to beat the crusaders, but thats highly unlikely.

just my 2c
