A fine collection of honours, but not really glory days as such, as there are no consistent wins over a prolonged period, which is what I think nivek meant.

At best i would say the 50's into the 60's but yeah i think you right

I really wanted Spurs to win their first game as I have high expectations of them causing some major upsets this CL.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to splash out R17-million for Bongani Khumalo - the biggest transfer fee ever paid to a PSL club for a South African player.

The Supersport United defender flies to London tonight to spend a week training with Spurs.

Khumalo will join the north London side officially during the January transfer window, but until then he will make regular visits to White Hart Lane when Supersport's fixture calendar allows, in order to adjust to the conditions and to Harry Redknapp's training regime.

There was speculation that the move had fallen through after a string of delays, but an official announcement is expected this week. Khumalo's agent Glyn Binkin flew to London on Tuesday to conclude the deal, with the two clubs having agreed the record transfer fee.

The only potential snag is the issuing of a UK work permit, since Khumalo has played in roughly half of Bafana's competitive matches over the last two years. The rules technically require a 75% ratio, but exceptions can be made if an exceptional young talent has recently broken into a national team, and Spurs are confident that the Home Office will issue a permit.

Spurs are competing in the European Champions League, but Khumalo's best hope of senior action this season will be in the league, since Spurs were knocked out of the League Cup by Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed concern about inactivity among his Europe-based players, notably Kagisho Dikgacoi at Fulham, and moving straight to a major club such as Spurs is undoubtedly a gamble.

But Khumalo's renowned professionalism and maturity will not allow a repeat of Mbulelo Mabizela's disastrous stint at White Hart Lane in 2003.

For defending champions Supersport United, the loss of their captain will hurt. They are languishing in twelfth spot on the log, after three games.

Great 4-1 win tonight for Spurs. Great performances from Van der Vaart, Bale, Pavlyuchenko and the rest of the guys.
Pity about Van der Vaart's sending off but never the less a great win.
3 points in the bag, hopefully they can follow this up with a win this weekend at home over Aston Villa.
 
Great stuff to think Spurs were bottom just 2 years ago....
