"offline" files

Hi,

I need to set up 5 laptop computers to have access to a common network folder. When the computers are not connected to the network (either network issues or working from home), the files need to be available offline. As soon as the computer reconnects, it must sync the folders both ways to latest revision of files. This is similar to the "offline files" functionality in Windows XP. The problem, however, is that most Laptops have a Home version of Vista which does not support "offline files".

What other options do I have of getting this done. I've looked at "sync" software, but these only sync when told to or on a schedule. I need this to work seemless, without the persons working even knowing it happens - they are not technically minded :)

Any ideas

Have you had a look at dropbox? Will sync files across machines and keep a backup online.

Second Dropbox and with the new lan sync mode, works even better across your network.

Been a happy Dropbox user for years.
