So install is easy enough with the /layout parameter apperently even though it also downloads all locales which is a PAIN but at least doable.

Activation however is another thing, setting aside the stupidity of basically having DRM on a "free" thing.
Can you use a VS pro crack on it and/or will that basically change it into VS Pro anyway? Don't really care for pro I just want the community version with no annoying strings attatched.

free as in being kept on a tight leash, honestly I'd be more comfortable just pirating the damn thing than needing to sign in somewhere, the price of entrance being zero does not matter

What tight leash? You sign in and it works.
Done and dusted. Else install VS Code and try work with that.

You wanna crack a software that's basically free smh.
Why not just get the Enterprise version via your university DreamSpark subscription.
Still have to log in periodically into my Enterprise edition also.

Whats the issue with signing in? Even if it is free. Just an annoyance?

Partly on principle/ideology and partly because there is no guarantee of internet when you might have to install something. Also the "free" login can be suspended at any time for any stupid little reason, whether there are currently plans for it or not does not matter... and I REALLY do not trust M$ to strictly keep to anything they say for longer than a gold-fish's attention span nor am I as a rule comfortable with anything having any kind of internet dependency.

Sure, denigrate someone simply because he wants his software to have no master other than he himself. Ridicule is such a civilized way of argument and in no way ever a mindless mask for cowardly ignorance of anything.

This makes it ironic that you want to be programming with Microsoft products then...

Dude just get VS Code then and install the C# plugin. Less features but you'll be the master what ever that means.

nah I'll just use eclipse

also I was just plain curious over how possible it is, why must someone be punished for wondering the obscure things and have his reasons for wondering it questioned instead of getting actual answers?

If you do not know just shut up instead of lowering the area's IQ with playground logic... I know this is the internet but that is never an excuse for a lack of class... and yes I have my pomp hat on atm not my shiny one.

There's a full standalone version you can download, otherwise you only ever have to really log in once.
