Recommendation for offshore investment? Even if it is a good financial advisor.

I heard this morning about something called the Franklin Templeton Opportunities Fund, sounds good.

But how the heck do we decide??

What is Franklin Templeton going to do that buying schitloads of Apple and Microsoft shares is not going to do?

S&P 500. Job done.

Offshore investment options depend heavily on what sort of funds you're looking to invest. The place I'm using requires CHF10 000 as a minimum, in your account, but they offer you access to many major exchanges and loads of different instruments.

Locally, you can get access to something like the S&P 500 via Satrix or Easy Equities.

Not a single response. Would love to hear from folks.
Depends on what you are trying to do. Do you just want to invest in offshore companies but one day use the proceeds in South Africa (feeder funds) or do you want yo physically move money offshore.

Either way: pick your favourite most bestest unit trust/etf and look at the underlying funds it is tracking. A simple example: CSP500 is CoreShare's S&P500 fund but it is a Rand based fund that tracks a USD SP500 fund. CSP500 is in Rands.

When in doubt: look at iShares, BlackRock and Vanguard ETFs (if you want to move money physically offshore).

How is the S&P500 after their recent slump in June?

In what way? If you're asking about performance, you could get the answer from Google in less time it would've taken you to type that post. Just Google search "S&P500".
