Offshore

Not so interested in physical dollars - Isn't it illegal to hold these, because of the exchange control laws?

You saw nothing, walk away. Good day sir. I said good day.

Are you referring to a foreign currency account?

Jip.

A few reasons, 1) being prepared 2) the odd overseas purchase 3) travel 4) I plan on emigrating and would rather protect some money from the rand's depreciation

I see.

I don't have a lot of experience with currency since my framework is very south africa bound. So in my opinion I will just put all the money I can afford into DBxWD.

@ThePro's

What will happen to ETFs like the Dbx trackers if we are downgraded june?

Also what will happen to local ETF spefically Satrix if we get junk.

I don't see anywhere on Capitec's website that they have a foreign currency account... I thought that they couldn't trade in forex

Okey scrape that I misunderstood you entirely. What I meant was if you travel you can use your Capitec account and global one card to buy in other countries as is.

Also you can accept dollar payments into your Capitec account ( there are fees associated with it.)

Impossible to tell. If the Rand tanks DBX might actually gain quite a bit. A lot of experts are suggesting that our markets have already corrected for the downgrade and nothing serious would happen.

That is what my "common sense" Tells me as well.

I looked at the JSE overall, but my "common sense" theory doesnt hold up since to me it looks like we are trading at all time high's at the moment.

I expected to see this:
