House seems to have left, but just in case he's still hanging about:

Has sanral ever considered selling etags over the counter at supermartkets or garages? Etag is R10 or thereabouts, load it with money and deduct it at the minimum rate. Top up when neccessary. No registration and the etag can be use on a bike, SUV, caravan or skedonk.

Your "alternate user" still requires registration and restricts the owner to one vehicle and 12 tollroad trips per annum so that won't work.

I'm not making any promises and i can't speak for anyone else but if you drop the registration, allow one tag on multiple vehicles, charge the minimum rate and make the process painless you MIGHT net a few more suckers.

Just putting the idea out.

Please do not stir the pot

The idea is to get rid of E-toll, not enhance it dammit

Sorry everyone the guilt gets to me sometimes but i promise i use the tollroads and don't pay :(

I'm on our side not on theirs.

The highways are overcrowded. If E-tolls keeps the riff-raff out, so much the better. I know its not a political correct sentiment at the moment.

I hate e-tolls too. Its a fact though that highways are overcrowded with how many new vehicles hitting it every year. Some tax of some sort has to be imposed or no one will get anywhere soon. Remember the gillooly interchange before the changes? How early you had to leave home and how late you had to leave work? Well, if nothing is done to stem the tide, we will be right back in that situation. Issue aside, we are breeding ourselves to death.

Just wish it would keep the trucks off it at peak time (doing the uphill run between Garsfontein to Rigel -free section- is not fun, can at least keep to the left to take the off ramp again, but the trucks makes other cars congest that lane.

The main reasons they are overcrowded are not being addressed at all, and extra taxes should never be used for anything other than to collect revenue. Not social engineering, not traffic,no other BS.

Thousands of trucks will still use the highways, still use the right-hand lanes and break down every fcking day and stand there for hours every day.
There is still no proper public transport outside of the 1% who live work close to the Gautrain system.

That wouldn't be a problem with decent public transport. Where the money should have gone, albeit it probably would have been just as corrupt and stir up more taxi violence because our useless re-elected government has no spine.
