oh no !!!!

That, or myADSL has been blocked by iBurst... ;)

Kidding. No flames, pls. And no quoting out of context, either. :D

Then I guess I shouldnt feel bad about 3 new threads in 3 days! At least I kept the forum alive! :D

All I still need is a list with planned towers in Pretoria. The guy at iBurst didn't give me a lot of info!

Excellent! They are all gone home already.....guess I will have to wait until tomorrow. At least I can sort out my utTraceStar tonight and see what my connection looks like. I guess it wont help to put the Desktop modem out the window to get an idea of what an antenna just outside my study window will do to the latency?

NATIVE the field techies got a excel spreadsheet with all the tower locations ... i suppose it makes it easy for them to find a tower when they have a prob.

when i have a iburst techie @ my home to do a signal test i saw the list on his pc ... if he was an extra 2 mins in the bathroom i would have copied the file to my usb stick

but yeah that list got the address and the pgs location of the towers ;)

Why are the locations of the current towers or planned towers such a big secret? It will be great for them if they help us find the closest tower and have the best speed possible. Believe me, I will tell ALL my friends how good iBurst is if I get more than my brothers 512 ADSL. And that for a lot less!

To be honest, I have my iBurst a few days now and have already done some marketing for them.....

and seeing that telkom is morons and dont want to give my complex a few lines, i am stuck with iburst

Most (maby all, im not shure) of the planned towers will be on the "planned coverage" section of the coverage maps.

You just go to any area you are interested in, and click show planned coverage, then all the planned towers and their range/quality is shown.

But im shure they dont put all of them their, and those are only put up once the site serveying and signal measuring has been done. But at least they should be completley confirmed if they make it to the coverage maps.

I fully agree with you, techies need to know where the Basestations are located and if they are to give that info to subscribers who call in then helpdesk should be given access to the list too.

What was he doing in your bathroom? Did he show you his antenna?

Bathroom, Antenna, usb stick & extra 2 minutes. Sounds to me like a pretty interesting plot for "Days of our Signal".

Same here. Though I prefer to wait my contract out. But who knows what the provider situation will be like when my contract is over...

iburst aint exactly right either boet, i called iburst to get a connection going for when my adsl lines go down, the guy is stilling calling me back 2 weeks later to tell me if the iburst modem works on linux

That confirms my earlier question :

When is the last time you actually got good service in South Africa?

*I have asked for my account to be upgraded from 1GB to 3GB, got an email from the helpdesk with a ticket number, but nothing else. I guess it took them a while to learn the helpdesk people how to use HEAT, now they should teach them how to do their jobs.
