Sorted a customer out yesterday with Sasser. Most decent mail and webservers should be patched by now. The SMTP server came back just after my post, but I've noticed it becomes quite slow at times.
When I send myself an email (to my normal email address) it takes at least 12 hours to be delivered. Maybe this is limited to the webmail though. It still doesnt make me want to jump at using the service.
One would think most of the major servers would be running linux by now. At least the sasser wasnt as bad as blaster. Cant see how it would affect the SMTP server at all? Surely they arent using a Microsoft backend? And if so, unpatched. I wont believe it for a second.
Think the biggest cause of the actual throuhput slowdown is all the new users coming online. You know what it's like in the beginning. 2GB of MP3's a day, 10GB of noone's porn per day and 35 new apps a week.
Its all the nice worms wriggling thru the net at the mo thats chewing up bandwith like theres no tomorrow, why dont people just invest in some gawd damn antivirus software?
