I just change my car's oil. Start the engine, oil light went off. Check the dipstick and see their is not enough oil in the engine, but I did add enough. Went down and saw lots of oil under the car and dripping fast.

I look for a empty container, remove the oil. Remove the oil filter, its looks fine, the o ring is in place. Feel with my fingers where the oil filter must come, all fine. insert oil filter again. add oil, test, all fine this time. Then I found the culprit. The old oil filter o ring is in the second pan, meaning their was 2 o rings on the oil filter the first time. First time this happen to me.

I always run my finger dipped in oil on the new o ring and on the seat of the block. It is always easier to loosen afterwards when you are doing the next service.
Also, I clean the block of any oil marks after removing old oil filter. I like a clean car and if a oil leak starts it is easily traceable since you don't have a dirty engine.

Both these steps will prevent what happened to you.:o
