Hi guys

Always wanted to know,

Why do we still use dipsticks to check oil levels?

Why cant we have a level indicator inside the car? Maybe a 3light thing that tells you the oil level...

Just the cheapest most reliable way you can check your oil i guess, electronics can always go haywire, havent seen a broken dipstick yet

I know of a bm with no dipstick where the computer kept warning that oil level is low and more oil was added. Car was taken in and 8l of oil drained, normal capacity is about 5l.

The oil tends to move around when driving so its kind of useless most of the time.
The oil pressure sensor is the most important in any case.
