Alas, I'm not the only guy that can see the storm clouds gathering. BTW, $120 is so yesterday. We're now sitting just below $125.

I would not be surprised if we were soon to cross a treshold where some tiny little component of the world's fragile economy snaps bringing the whole deck of cards crashing down. Our lives are now dependent on abundant cheap oil by a couple of orders of magnitude more so than it was in 1929. A global crash now would make the Great Depression look like a Sunday picnic.

I chuckle when I see that so many people think that the main symptom of runaway oil prices will be that it will take large piles of money to fill up your car. Yes, it sure will but I bet that the price of petrol will be the least of your worries when you find that the shelves of your local friendly supermarket were stripped bare in a matter of days after the last truck ran out of fuel and that your hungry kids are sitting in a dark, cold house with no running water or electricity depending on you to provide for them.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong about this. Honestly. Reality is a bastard, though.

$120? Aaah, those were the good ol' days....

Try $132 as of a couple of minutes ago.

I remember back in the day when petrol cost only R8/l. You could fill up on a tank so easily and felt like you could drive forever. Ahhh, the good old days...
