I think it was last year when a member posted a solution for me,but the search function on this forum is real sheety sometimes and i am posting this yet again:D
Right here goes..............

I have my laptop
I got a Ethernet cable(not a cross over cable..nB )
I got my netgear wireless router.
I got a 3g modem
I got a ps3

Right i connect my 3g modem..online status..ok
I plug my lan cable in my laptop and the other end into my netgear wireless router port 1(lan port..ie).
Now i need to make the router send out wireless internet--AP,via the lan and not the wan port.

I did this before a long time ago and cant remember what i did on the netgear router.I think it had something to do about disabling something on the netgear and adding a few changes to the ip addresses and enabling internet sharing on the lan on my laptop.

If you know a easy way please do tell;)
1-i dont want to use a crossover cable..i am not cutting my third one up:D
2-i dont want to use connectify software.
3-I want easy nooooooooooooob dof instructions as networking is not my strong point.

I ran this problem via google searches and my gawd these people think in theory and not in practicality:wtf: .

Setup the 3g modem on the laptop and confirm that it works.
Right-click on the 3G under network connections and enable sharing. Make sure you share it through ethernet (wired LAN).
Plug in the network cable into the laptop and plug in the other end into the PS3.
Should work without needing any other settings or hardware,

Can a PS3 connect to adhoc network? If so then exactly the same setup as vinodh suggests except you have to create the adhoc network on the laptop and then get the PS3 to connect to the adhoc network ssid instead of using the cable.

EDIT: No wait. Connect PS3 to wireless router but set the gateway on the PS3 custom settings to the IP of the laptop. I think this would work. You would need to give your laptop a static IP address.

adhoc ap wont work.you need connectify for that. Read my post carefully.i need to create a internet ap from my lan connection.

Step 1: right click properties share the 3G connection.
2: insert static IP for LAN port (as per router range) on PC eg 192.168.0.3
3: make router static eg 192.168.0.1, untick DHCP
4: connect PS3, by going to Internet Connection Settings, custom, wireless, scan, select wifi, insert manual IP eg 192.168.0.2, make router IP that of PC aswell as DNS eg 192.168.0.3
5: make coffee, while it updates?

rofl...i hope you not talking about the ps3 updating from my wonderful magical 3.55:D

Will try these settings, they will work,Its a pity i cant make the wireless router a real access point, where i dont have to add manual settings in.O well we cant have it buttered on both sides.

I am getting dns errors on the ps3 and cant seem to fix it

Ok could anyone give exact instructions on where to put the exact ip numbers.Simm card helped in a way but his instructions is a bit vague.I had to put in my own dns settings as both primary and secondary can not be the same.

Laptop set as Static IP: 192.168.*.10
DNS: (router IP)
Gateway: Leave blank
Set to share internet connection on 3G card

PS3 Static IP: 192.168.*.11 (If you HAVE to set as static on the PS3 settings to change gateway as well)
DNS: (router IP)
Gateway: 192.168.*.10 (same as laptop IP)

Router IP: (?) could be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.0.1 etc... but you should know or pick it up from manual
* = make it the same range as your router above
Subnet mask always = 255.255.255.0 for home setup

You don't need a secondary DNS you can leave it blank.

I'm not saying this is correct, only this is what I would try on my first attempt :p
