Howzit,

I've been out of the MMO scene for quite a while (was a avid WoW player). Now this game looks very intruiging, but i just want to know is Guild Wars 2 worth it?
I've read reviews and stuff and by the looks of it yes. But i would prefer Pros/Cons from you wonderful creatures :D

Crafting - is it done well, is it useful?
Quests - i read about hearts and the telescope - are they actually a bit different from Kill X centaurs etc.
Weapons - Also read diff weapons have diff skills associated with them which i think is rad. Are there cool weapons that make you feel badass?
Big one - Lag - They said you use a dodge/roll cover thing.. now with our MS to the servers, can we actually use this mechanic ?
World -- Is the world huge, i.e could you spend a few days just running exploring (WoW big, or like AOC/Rift big?).

thanks

go troll over there.

What game do you think if its under the guild wars sub-section.

Overreact much? I was also wondering, as I didn't arrive on this post by browsing through the Guild Wars sub-section. It wouldn't have hurt the poster to mention the game. For all that we know he could be talking about GW1 instead of GW2, because as you so plumply put it this is the Guild wars sub-section.

Edit: Oh I see now you are the poster.

Hi,

Yes this game is worth it.

Crafting is cool, don't need to compete for ore nodes etc. Get exp from crafting, things are useful, get exp from discovering recipes.

The quests are >>>>>>>>>>>> You just rock up in the aoe of a heart and get the rep quest, if you leave the aoe you drop the quest (can still continue where you left of when you get back tho). Dynamic events everywhere making questing EVEN BETTER.

The weapon skills are cool, bit weird getting used to swapping weapons mid combat so you can use say Blink strike to catch someone or drop more aoe. But yeah cool, torch off hand gives you a flamethrower on guardian what more do you need?

Yes you can dodge, haven't noticed any lag unless I am on a overflow server then there is a bit of delay. But dodging works, just need to learn how to and look for **** to dodge.

The world is massive and it looks SO good. Its beautiful. Also there are more continents apparently that are not in this release.

Well worth it, considering there are no monthly subs. Dynamic events are a sure win!

So far, I am enjoying the game. I ran some worldvsworld pee-vee-pee today and I must admit that while is was fun it is a bit of a zerg fest in that it's all about numbers. Oh and when doing WvWvW you get boosted to level 80 so it kind of evens the playing field.

The whole hearts and dynamic events is pretty cool in that it doesn't really feel like a grind running around exploring. But keep in mind this is my first character so everything is new and shiny. The cities are done really well. They are huge with plenty of places to explore and sights to see.

I only just started crafting and while I haven't made anything really useful, the crafting system offers a lot of variety.

Hmm what else.... your bank box is shared among your characters, so you can share all your items. You can insta-mail anyone in the game so if you pick up that leet-epeen-daggerofdeath and you do not need it, you can mail it to a friend in need. You gain xp for almost everything you do, from killing to crafting, to exploring to reviving players and npcs.

But at the end of the day, it will all boil down to end game IMO. Is it currently worth the R400 odd? For sure, loads of fun and a guaranteed time sink to boot without feeling you have to play to get ahead.

That's all I can think of atm.

Ya im going to answer my own question and say yes, definitely worth it :)

Only got to jol 2 hours last night, lvl 5 Charr Thief. Very very cool. The world is much bigger than i expected, world events are rad (even though they repeat often), havn't started crafting yet but i have been gathering mats, will probably start on that tonight. The heart questing system is very cool, i completed most of them while doing world events, it really does take the "grind" out of the game. It's cool that killing monsters grants a lot LESS xp than normal, so it kind of forces you to not just go stuff, but rather explore, gather, craft, help out.

The different skills with different weapons is awesome.
Yet to try PVP or WvW. Maybe give it a bash later.

One thing that sucks, is the targeting system. You never really get a clear indication who you targeting, the cursor stays the same even when you mouse over an enemy, takes a bit of getting used to.

But jeez, for a MMO that is only 2 days old, this is one of the most polished games i have played, wow. Big ups to ArenaNet

I usually use the TAB key to select targets but in PVP you really get lost on what you are targeting...

Only 2 grips with the game. Hard to play with friends as you all end up on different overflow servers and the framerate dies every now and then...
