A man has beheaded a woman with a knife and stabbed another before being shot at a food processing factory in the US.

Alton Nolen, 30, was hospitalised after the incident on Thursday, when he allegedly went on the rampage after being fired from Vaughan Foods in Oklahoma City.

Colleen Hufford, 54, was decapitated and another staff member, 43-year-old Traci Johnson was stabbed a number of times before the attack was stopped.

After being sacked in a building housing the company's human resources office, Nolen immediately drove to the main entrance and started the attack, police said.

Mark Vaughan, the company’s chief operating officer and a reserve police officer has since been hailed a “hero” for shooting Nolen, who is in hospital along with his victim Ms Johnson.

The FBI has been called in to investigate the incident after colleagues told police Nolen had recently attempted to convert them to Islam.

His Facebook page, under the name Jah'Keem Yisrael, suggests that he converted to the religion in 2013 and has since posted a stream of statuses with quotes from the Koran under the tag “info from a Muslim”.

In one post earlier this year, he appeared to celebrate the 9/11 terrorist attack by posting a picture of the Twin Towers burning.

“The Statue of Liberty is going into flames,” he wrote. “She and anybody who's with her.”

He also labelled America and Israel “wicked” and called on Muslims to “wake up”.

His most recent post, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, seemed to claim the apocalypse was coming, saying “this is the last days”.

Police are believed to be looking at his material on Facebook as part of their investigation.

In a statement, the FBI’s Special Agent in Charge, James Finch, said the motive for the attack has not been determined but that there is no reason to believe there is a threat to anyone else.
An official told the Associated Press that while there was indication that Nolen was a Muslim convert and was trying to convert others to Islam, there was no connection to terrorism and no evidence of concerning travel.

Sergeant Jeremy Lewis, of Moore Police, said officers were waiting for him to regain consciousness on Friday before making an arrest.

He said the force had asked the FBI to look into the man's background because of the nature of the attack, which follows a series of beheadings Islamic State (Isis) militants in Syria.

Praising Mr Vaughan, he added: “This was not going to stop if he didn't stop it. It could have gotten a lot worse.”

According to state records, Nolen has previously served time in prison and is on probation for assault and battery on a police officer.

He was also convicted of cocaine possession with intent to distribute in 2011.

POLICE: MAN ACCUSED IN OKLAHOMA BEHEADING IS AWAKE

A man who was shot after authorities say he beheaded one woman and attacked another at an Oklahoma food processing plant from which he had just been fired has regained consciousness and was interviewed by detectives Saturday.

Alton Nolen, 30, remains hospitalized in stable condition after Thursday's attack at the Vaughan Foods plant in the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore, Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said. He said that Nolen will be charged Monday with first-degree murder and assault and battery with a deadly weapon and that he may also face federal charges.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for an Oklahoma City Islamic group said Saturday that Nolen was a frequent worshipper at a mosque the group maintains and that he remembers the suspect as "a little weird."

"He was a nice, quiet, low-key guy," said Saad Mohammed, director of information for the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. "He acted a little odd," Mohammed said, though he added that Nolen's behavior never raised any "red flags."

Mohammed said Nolen began worshipping at one of the group's mosques in May.

Lewis said Nolen was fired right before the attack, and that he then drove from the building that houses the company's human resources department to its main distribution center.

Once inside, he attacked 54-year-old Colleen Hufford with a knife in the center's administrative office area, eventually severing her head, according to police. Nolen then repeatedly stabbed 43-year-old Traci Johnson before Mark Vaughan, a reserve sheriff's deputy and the company's chief operating officer, shot him, police said.

Johnson was treated for her injuries at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, where she was released Saturday, said Varina Shellman, clinical coordinator for the medical center.

Lewis said Johnson was also interviewed Saturday.

Police learned Nolen was fired for "numerous reasons" involving "personnel issues," Lewis said, adding that he didn't know the specifics.

Police asked the FBI to help investigate Nolen after co-workers told investigators he had recently started trying to convert several employees to Islam. He said police asked the FBI to look into Lewis' background because of the nature of the attack, which followed a series of high-profile videotaped beheadings by Islamic State militants in Syria.

Mohammed said Nolen had attended services where sermons were delivered condemning such attacks.

"In no way, shape or form did he represent Islam in this foolish act," Mohammed said.

In a statement, FBI Special Agent in Charge James E. Finch said the motive for the attack had not been determined, but that there is no reason to believe there was a threat to anyone else.

"We don't have any reason to believe there is any danger to the area," Lewis said.

According to Oklahoma Department of Corrections records, Nolen served time in prison and is on probation for assault and battery of a police officer. He also was convicted of cocaine possession with the intent to distribute in 2011.

The records show that Nolen has what appear to be religious tattoos, including one referencing Jesus and one in Arabic that means "peace be with you."

"...the motive for the attack had not been determined, but that there is no reason to believe there was a threat to anyone else"

Yeah right. We're only getting like 1 Islamic beheading/week now. Nothing to lose your head over.

CHARGES EXPECTED IN OKLAHOMA WORKPLACE BEHEADING

Police say charges are expected in the beheading of a woman at a food distribution center in an Oklahoma City suburb.

Moore police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis says murder and other charges against 30-year-old Alton Nolen will be presented to the district attorney for filing Monday.

Cleveland County prosecutors did not return phone calls for comment on Sunday.

Nolen is suspected of attacking two women, beheading one of them, shortly after being fired Thursday. Police say reserve sheriff's deputy Mark Vaughan, the company's chief operating officer, ended the attack by shooting Nolen.

Nolen and the second victim in the attack were both hospitalized and are expected to recover.

A hospital spokeswoman said Sunday that she could not comment on Nolen's condition.

AMERICAN BEHEADING SUSPECT'S MOTHER APOLOGIZES IN VIDEO

The mother of an American worker suspected of beheading one of several colleagues he had tried to convert to Islam has broken her silence, apologized in a video posted online.

Alton Nolen, 30, is due to be charged Monday with first-degree murder, as well as assault and battery with a deadly weapon. He may also face federal charges.

It was after being fired from his job at the Vaughan Foods in an Oklahoma City suburb that Nolen went on a frenzied knife rampage Thursday, severing the head of a colleague and wounding another before being shot by his former boss.

"My heart is just so heavy right now," his mother Joyce Nolen said in the video posted Saturday on Facebook. "That's not my son."

The incident came in the wake of a series of beheadings of Western captives by militant fighters in the Middle East and Algeria, but US officials have not confirmed any link to the Oklahoma case. Nolen had recently converted to Islam.

"His family, our hearts bleed right now because what they saying Alton has done," Nolen's mother said in the short video statement, sitting next to her daughter Megan.

"I want to apologize to both families -- because this is not Alton."

She said she was hoping that justice will prevail and "the whole story will come out."

In a separate Facebook entry, Megan Nolen said her brother "has been a great influence to me and has always been a loving and caring person."

"He has never been a violent person and has never done any physical harm to anyone. Only God knows why what happened took place," she added.

"I am praying for the families as well as for my brother."

On Facebook, Nolen went by the moniker Jah'Keem Yisrael. He posted photographs of the World Trade Center towers going up in smoke during the September 11, 2001 attacks and of graves.

"SHALOM ALHAKEIUM O YE MUSLIMS AND NON-MUSLIMS ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT THE ONES WHO DIED IN FAITH (SERVANTS OF ALLAH SWT) WILL RISE FROM THE DEAD TO BE JUDGED WITH EVERYBODY ON EARTH WHOS STILL LIVING...THE ONES WHO DIED IN SIN WILL REMAIN IN THEIR GRAVES CAUSE THEIR ALREADY IN HELL!!!" he wrote on September 17 in a posting that got five "likes".

In another post in May disparaging Americans who eat pork, women who don't cover their hair and gays getting married, he warned that "SHARIA LAW IS COMING!!!!!!"

His account shows he has 1,470 "friends," many of them women wearing the Muslim veil.

The Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City has stressed that "this unwarranted act does not represent Islam in any shape or form."

"We condemn, and are 100% against, the heartless & unnecessary act committed by the suspect. We stand for justice."

Local media quoted the group's Saad Mohammed as saying other Muslims who attended the same mosque as Nolen considered him "a little odd" and "a little weird".

But Mohammed also noted that Nolen's behavior did not raise any red flags, and that he had attended services during which sermons were delivered condemning beheadings such as those committed by Islamic State militants based in Iraq and Syria. oh/mkh

As his mom says, let's not judge too quickly... the truth will come out. Satan may have done it or the beheaded woman may have "fallen" on his knife
