Hi everyone

Anyone know where I can buy a AMD Athlon 4000+ (socket 939) CPU and 2GB DDR 400 RAM for not a arm and a leg? :p

New ones though, I don't want to buy secondhand components.

It's for a friend of mine that needs a upgrade, but he's PC is fairly decent, just needs to upgrade his 3800+ to the 4000+ and he has 2GB RAM already :)

You are gonna find that new old stuff is gonna cost more than new new stuff, if you see what I mean. Specially that DDR 400 RAM...
 
I agree, but it is a temp "upgrade"

Anything faster then a 3800+ would do.

And understand what you mean hj2k_x :p
 
Oh ye, forgot to add, the 3800+ isn't performing like it used to thus the reason for upgrading even though it ain't that big an upgrade.

Round about R2000 seeing that it's just temporary to get his games running smoothly again :p Till he can scrape the money together for a large upgrade.
 
i just ordered new pc parts and it came to about 2400 .
amd 7750 cpu ,msi motherboard and 4 gig DRR2 800

Hmm, 2k. For a CPU and MOBO and some RAM. Should be do able. What GFX is he running? He has HDDs I take it? Can ya post his current specs?

Thing about overclocking is the CPU isn't really all that fresh :p It's already buggered.

EDIT: He has a 9600GT I think it was.

Yeah, that offer for R2400 is pretty decent.
