Hey guys,

So I have an old DSTV decoder that I found laying around in my new house. :D

My girlfriend and I want to get DSTV this month, however I was wondering can I use this old decoder?

It has no remote and no Smart Card.

Can I just get these two items from Multi Choice? Or do I need to buy a decoder with a smart card?

Thanks for the feedback!

What about the dish? If you don't have one, it will be cheaper to get a new decoder with installation voucher.

There is a dish outside and cable etc. seems all I am missing is a smart card and remote. Also an account lol!

Which model is it? You will need to contact the previous owner to do a change of ownership. You can also call MC with the serial number and check if it is listed on second hand status.

It's a DSD 910. No idea who it belongs to though. Might just be easier to buy a new decoder?

Smartcards used to sell for R350... Don't know what they go for these days, or if you can still buy one for an old decoder. New decoder is R499, or even less if you find it on special somewhere. I would go with a new 1132, for sure.
