Hi everyone
I am a medical student and I've been an avid gamer since I was a little boy. I love games - I love playing them, I love writing about them, I love reading about them. Gaming has always been a passion of mine, even though nowadays I seem to have less and less time for it.
Please forgive me if this posting seems highly irregular. I know that for someone reading this it may seem as if I'm trying to take advantage of everyone on this forum. Please let me explain.
Most young people or their parents on this forum will have a bunch of games gathering dust in their living rooms or in their closets or garages. Even though these games once brought a lot of joy and excitement, these people know that they will never play them again. Perhaps the games are outdated and will not run on modern PC's; perhaps they can still run, but playing them once is enough; perhaps they weren't that good to begin with.
Usually these games are forgotten and only stumbled upon when spring cleaning or searching for other items, and even then they are in the way.
Here is the part where I know people are going to go: "are you serious?": I want these games. And I know that people would rather give these old things to someone who will cherish them and enjoy them than having them gather dust in their closets.
And here's the other truth: I cannot pay you for them... Being a student, I don't have much money and I will be lying to you if I said I did. The other day I went over to a Cash Crusaders in Cape Town and they told me that they don't pay more than R5 for a PC game that was released prior to 2000. So it is not as if these games are potentially lucrative for any owner.
I am not asking you for your brand new copy of GTA IV or anything that you might revisit in the future. I want the games that you will not play again, that your children will not play again; certainly not your grandchildren!
If someone is reading this and thinking that this might be something that you could consider, please contact me via this forum or at 15061833@sun.ac.za
Thank you. I hope this message didn't blow the wind out of your sails!
Cheers
