Old graphics card with new Mobo

Hi MyBB

I am looking to upgrade in stages and was curious whether an old card like the Geforce 6600 LE (http://www.gigabyte.co.za/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2260&dl=1#sp) would work in the new mobo's of today?

This would only be a temporary solution.

It is PCI-E so I can't see why it won't work (I know it wont be ideal)

It should work but if you getting a Haswell or Ivybridge PC the onboard GPU is most likely faster.

Good to hear. So if arguably the mobo is discrete, then it would atleast be able to display something with old graphics card...

6600LE was a horribly slow card with a measly 64-bit bus width.

You telling me, I have first hand experience.... I will upgrade as soon as I can.

That's why back in the day I bought a 6600GT. That card was a beast! Even if it was only the AGP version. By comparison the 6600LE shouldn't have been allowed to carry the 6600 name.

Just to confirm...It did work but scores crap in Win 7 experience score - only managed a 4.0 lol
