You can get Nucs, Dell Optiplex minis etc that is 3+times faster for the same price … , but these old ones just have normal old Intel shyte in

Aren’t they also running normal old Intel shyte ?

Just for anyone else stumbling on this thread and wondering about memory upgrades - it seems late 2012 is the last model you could upgrade memory.

How’s everyone’s old Mac minis doing? Keen to plug mine in again soon. Core i5 8th Gen, 256GB, 8GB. But will upgrade to 16GB (DDR4-2666).

Can’t believe I paid R19k for it in late 2018. Devalued quickly when the 512GB replacement came out, and then M1.

Still a great machine though, and it’s nice that it can run Windows natively.

RAM availability varies by country and region.

2023, 2020​

Memory is integrated into the Apple M-series chip package in Mac mini (2023) and Mac mini (M1, 2020) and can't be upgraded. You can configure the memory in your Mac mini when you purchase it.

What they mean by not "user-installable" is that there is no user-accessible cover/easily-accessible slot in order to access the replaceable RAM, such as in many of the iMac models.

It is moderately difficult on the 2018.
