So a few months ago I took apart my old PC and plugged my hard drive into an old power supply. Long story short, there was smoke and now there is a part on the circuit board that melted. The data on the drive has a lot of sentimental value to me and I know it's expensive to be retrieved but to me it's worth it. All I want to know is if my data can be saved or is it lost forever and if I can still get it back where, preferably near Cape Town, could I send it to be repaired. Also a rough indication of the cost would be helpful. Here are some photos of the drive:

Go for Southbit, they are pricey but very good.

You mean hard drive recovery is pricey in general. SouthBit are way cheaper than the other companies. They're also one of two companies with a fixed price list which is publicly available.

We can sort it out for you if need be, we've recovered data for a lot of forum members. We're in Cape Town too.
