OLD MUTUAL RA

What do you want to know? I've had one (paid up) for the last 7 years. I made it paid up around 3 or so years ago and since then I've seen absolutely zero growth.

I'm currently in the process of doing a section 14 transfer to Sygnia.

I had a couple of RA's but the growth was poor so I transferred them away.

Others may have had a more positive experience.

I am in a similar position. I contacted Old Mutual after numerous attempts about doing a section 14 transfer and this is the list of requirements they sent me :

* Signed Letter of request from client

*A copy of the client's Green, Identity Document (it must be clear and bar coded) or Passport - the copy of the ID must be clear (name and photo must be visible)

*Fully completed Application form from transferee company & contact details (at least one contact number available) or a copy of the Investment.

*On the Application form, the commission must reflect as 0%

*Letter from Company with the name and all contact details of the person dealing with the section 14 transfer

If I go with Sygnia then how do I start the transfer process with them?

The transfer process will be the exact same anywhere.

If you have a good broker their'll do most of the hard work for you, but still requires that you sign a few things.

If you are in Cape Town drop me a PM and I'll point you to my guy.

Unfortunately I am in Durban.

Any brokers from Durban on here?

Do it yourself. Complete the application form for Sygnia and send it away.

Type out a letter to instruct OM that they need to initiate the move, sign it. Send both the letter and the Sygnia application form to them. Remember to include a copy of your ID with each email.

Then wait, I've been waiting around a month now, but mainly because of my own tardiness. I went and ticked "yes" by "divorce order claim is applicable against this contract". They contacted me last monday to get the details of the divorce order and it was only then that I realised my mistake.

So my counting starded back at 0 last Monday :(

I've only had a year on the discovery fund so it's not much - is it still worth re investing?

That depends on how far away you are from retiring... A small amount will grow to a big amount in 20 years, especially in a low cost fund like the Syngia one mentioned or 10X or similar.

I always had my own RA that's been going for the last 30yrs - so I'm not to fazed about this one, was the companies idea anyway.
