Ok I am running on my brothers old ADSL router. The very first one that came out when Telkom introduced adsl. It has one ethernet port that plugs into a separate route. I can hardly read off the model number.

Anyway I have noticed something but I need to confirm.

This morning the adsl router was loosing synch perhaps 3 times in 1 minute. My voice line has been behaving erratically with scratchy noises when i listen on the handset.

Anyway, I unplugged the filter, switched the modem off and on and now I seem to notice my html sessions are much faster. I have not had a disconnect for more than 20 minutes.

So, is it possible that the filter is 'old' ?

How often does one need to replace the filters anyway ?

Has this happened to anyone else ?

Thanks.

Maybe it was damaged by an electricity surge? Happened to me....
Just replace it and it will be fine

A cheap/old/damaged adsl filter can affect sync speeds.
