Vetkoekpaleis was one of my favourite local shows (along with Orkney Snorknie). The poppie who played the waitress was quite a hottie if I remember correctly and the guy who played Worsie was kaark funny!

Channel 156 on DSTV has a schedule of many oldies. Access is available to all DSTV subscribers on all of the packages.
One is able to record the content as well on a PVR enabled decoder.
The on line DSTV guide (http://guide.dstv.com/) lists the programs available.
We recently watched the "African Farm" as an example. There is something for everyone. At the moment I am watching "Spies and Plessie" .....
All the old soapies are there as well as "Villagers" I think.
Some of it is quite dated. Some of it shows the progress we have made as a country and other shows, the opposite.
One of the things that struck us was just how the general ethical standards in SA have deteriorated since those days. Another matter is just how much effort was put into producing shows for all language groups in the past. We certainly did not have to put up then as we do now with the flood of "American junk TV"
I found myself brushing up on my Zulu and Sotho, because some of the older local shows then were really good .... which I cannot say for what is on the SABC channels these days ....
