So we moved into a house that has a pool filter such as the one in the picture. Apparently they don’t make the seals anymore and i need to change to a new filter. However, as you know moving costs money and we aren’t liquid enough to change it. Anyone know if it can be opened to change the sand without breaking the seal?

Looking at that, you're better off replacing

That looks like it's a clamped lid. You can loosen the clamps evenly by loosening the bolts in a circular motion and check if seal is intact or not.

You can use another gasket that fits or use silicone sealant as a temp solution. Just need to be gentle when opening.

When we moved in to our place. They used silicon as a seal, it's not great and we had to replace the filter.
Air getting in caused havoc

Yep it is a temporary solution, some of the pool shops might have stock of similar sized gaskets. All depends on the condition of the seal and filter. If there is rust, it is kaput!
