Hey guys

I have a query. Not sure if im posting in the correct place.
Does Vodacom have the right to give a Cell number away if that number has been inactive for a year or so? Does the hole RICA thing not link that number to you?

Yup numbers get recycled all the time.

If you aren't using it...why is it a problem?

Yes they do, they recycle the number if it is not in use anymore.

10 Suspension/Disconnection

10.1 Vodacom may from time to time, by giving you advance notice where reasonably practicable and dependent on the circumstances, suspend the Services or disconnect your Cellphone Number from the Network for a period to be determined by Vodacom, in any one of the following circumstances -
10.1.1 if the Service has not been used by you for a period in excess of 7 (seven) months;

When the number was re-assigned to someone else, the new user would have Rica'd that number under themselves.

Yes they do have the right. In fact, it is mandated by ICASA if I am not mistaken. They have no choice.
