After much frustration and checking of cables, routers, ISPs and ADSL connectivity I finally accepted the inevitable - the fault is on Telkom's side.
Turns out the Olivedale exchange is experiencing some issues, and has been for the last two weeks. It has now got to the point where ADSL is no longer usable - I can't complete one full download on speedtest.net
This has been reported but it's absolute rubbish since I can't use the service for which I'm paying. My guess is it's been over supplied and is congested.
How do you solve a problem like Telkom?
