Olivedale Exchange

Hi there,

Don't know if anyone else has noticed but the adsl speed connecting the the Olivedale exchange has been quite good lately.

I usually get between 3 and 3.5Mbps on my 4 meg line. For the last few days I have been getting between 4.6 and 5.3Mbps...

Was hoping that they've upgraded the exchange but I see that 4 meg is still the maximum being reported on Telkom's site.

Don't know if it changed, but I see it's 10mbps enabled now (even though the max speed is marked at 4mbps still)

It's been at 10MB for at least this year, My internet has been stable at home in recent weeks, its more ISP issues that was the problem for me.

Called Telkom, they still say 4meg is the max... At this rate, moving to another country would be the easiest way to get anything above 4meg ;-)

Is that the 704 exchange?

Telkom promoters came to me yesterday offering 20mbps. I'm currently on 10mbps getting a speedtest figure of between 8.7mbps and 9mbps as well, so that exchange (704) isn't 4mbps max

704 is only 10mbps. I am on 704-31xx.

Then Telkom made an error by sending out the promoters to our complex last night - they were going door to door signing people up for 20mbps and said we could have it in 2 weeks.

ADSL checker also says 20mbps

What does this say for you?

Mine says 10mbps I am on olivedale 6 exchange. But im very far from the exchange.

Ah ok - I dunno what 6 is Assumed they were all the same if connected to the 704 exchange.

I'll let you know what happens with the 20mbps on my side though

There are +- 7-8 Olivedale exchanges, each denoted with a numeric value. i.e. 6.

Anyone having issues with Olivedale Exchange today? We're in the 462 number range. No service today for me and at least one neighbour I know.
Thinking it might be damage after the hectic winds from yesterday, not sure if we're the only ones affected.
Anyone else having issues?
