On Bono and Kill the Boer

Geez, chick. That would be an example of the song being used to incite violence - which is not right and should be punished.

Ban the words or method they use to incite violence and they'll just find some different words. You then end up playing a neverending game of cat and mouse banning things left right and centre until nobody can say anything ever again about anything in case they accidentally offend someone.

It's kind of like the opposite of rugby. Here, you have to play the MAN but not the ball. They'll find a new ball if you take this one away.

GEeeezzz dude. I said that before you came with your long explanation as to where the song is oke. Singing about killing people is never oke.

I know songs that were sang pre 1980. that would make people's blood boil. I do not sing it and teach it too kids today,it is wrong. My parents had the vision and savy too know that and never taught me these. They knew it would create a greater divide.

I understand the song about raising arms. But killing. Come on. It was oke to kill aborigines’ until the early 80's. You do not hear the Ausies sing about it.
IT is never oke to sing about killing people. You never know who you are teaching that it is oke to do it. Look at our murder rate. And look at what you are defending.
If it is oke to kill a boer it is oke too kill the workers that work for the boer.

If it is true what people say here and people kill for food, it would not be dismissable that they would use the excuse to killing a boer for his food.

It was - but you can still buy a old SA flag and wave it in your back garden if you feel the need. You can use it in a piece of art. You can show people what it looked like. You could do none of those things if it had been banned outright. Do you see what I'm getting at yet?

Also, please bear in mind that banning things doesn't make them go away. The ANC was banned for decades and look where they are now...

My point is that the Oranje Blanje Blou was banned @ rugby matches because it cause offence due to the public nature of the event! Now, when this "Kill The Boer" song is being sang at rallies by who the fck ever....that also causes offence....and frankly it is fcking scary sht! Much more so than a few Afrikaners waving the Old Flag at a rugby match. This is just fcked up! What do they say...whats good for the goose is good for the chickens @rse? Or something like that

You do not teach a whole generation of children that it is oke to sing about killing people. You tell them about the songs you do not teach it too them.
So do you say we teach them that all blacks were called the K word. Encourage them to use it in the right time and place??

(Banned is a bit of a strong term here. Rugby matches are actually private events - they don't need legislation to prevent you from doing something. If you wear a Pepsi t-shirt to a rugby match you'll probably get thrown out too, but that doesn't mean the old SA flag is as offensive as Pepsi.)
